 House on Fire 1-6

If it is true that our body is a vessel then we are repositories for all that happens on Earth. We are witnesses and I am a printmaker who believes that art changes our perception and that I am its messenger. House on Fire describes the urgency we are facing as climate change becomes more treacherous and destructive, effecting the air we breathe, our health and mental stress as well. It speaks to truth and the political motivations of our administration to conceal and bury actual facts. While living in California in 2017, I experienced firsthand the horrible fires that devastated Northern California. I had to evacuate my home and studio and travel to safety. In order to navigate the emotions attached to this event, I create art that embodies the experience with controlled burning and then threading to reference repair and healing. My hopes are to live in harmony with nature and to see a better future for the global environment. My process involves handmade paper with threading and burning embedding the image with the actual elements.
